Democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi walks free after 15 years of house arrest.

11/13/2010 - Myanmar - Video ( left )Reports are coming in that Myanmar's pro-democracy leader has been released from house arrest. She's been in detention for 15 of the last 21 years - the arrest drew widespread international condemnation. The Nobel Peace Prize laureate had said she would not accept the release if conditions are imposed which would exclude her from politics. Aung San Suu Kyi has become a symbol of the struggle to rid the country of decades of military rule. Video ( right ) Myanmar's military government freed democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi on Saturday after her latest term of detention expired. Several thousand jubilant supporters streamed to her residence. A smiling Suu Kyi, wearing a traditional jacket and a flower in her hair, appeared at the gate of her compound as the crowd chanted, cheered and sang the national anthem Infos & Video by RT www.rt.com
